Emporia Presbyterian Manor unveils renovated spaces with a ribbon cutting ceremony

Emporia Presbyterian Manor celebrated the ribbon cutting of its Jones Health Care and Memory Care on June 6, 2023 after a 20-month, $1.4 million renovation of all common areas. The two neighborhoods needed the facelift, which transformed the dining and living spaces. “You will find there are beautiful open spaces here,” said Bruce Shogren, CEO of PMMA (Presbyterian Manors of Mid-America®). “There’s new flooring, new ceilings, new paint, new artwork. You will find that this is a beautiful place for our residents to call home.”Shogren and Emporia Presbyterian Manor Executive Director Susan Siepelmeier thanked everyone involved in the projects, from the residents who had to live with construction to the staff who made sure the residents remained comfortable and taken care of during the transition. “They all played a role,” said Siepelmeier. “It takes all those tiny pieces to come together to make one big picture…turning yesterday’s dream into today’s reality.”A big thank you also went to our volunteers and donors, especially to Nancy Keller, the daughter of a former resident. Upon her passing, Keller wished to leave a legacy in Emporia. Her gift to the Manor was a significant contributor to the renovations. “It’s a legacy she was giving because of the love and the care her mom received here and we appreciate that,” said Shogren. Retired district judge and independent living resident, Hon. John Sanderson cut the red ribbon. Following the ceremony, residents and guests were able to tour the renovated areas. Many said the renovations were beautiful and that the spaces were calming and relaxing. Besides health care and memory care, Emporia Presbyterian Manor also offers independent living and assisted living, as well as short-term rehabilitation. More renovations are planned for the campus, specifically for the patios and outside spaces. ‍
