Presbyterian Manor to host event series

Emporia Presbyterian Manor will host a series of three events for seniors in February and March.

Join Emporia Presbyterian Manor February 25 for a special presentation on dementia care by Torbjorn "TJ" Jonsson, clincial practice specialist with Aegis Therapies. TJ will offer tips on what to consider when caring for a loved one, depending on the stage of the disease, and honing in on their abilities, not their disabilities, for increased independence and active participation in everyday activities.

Following the presentation, tour the specialized memory care neighborhood at Emporia Presbyterian Manor and see how specialized care can benefit persons living with dementia.

RSVP by February 21 to Crystal Stock at 316-343-2613 or cstock@pmma.org.

Morrison, Emporia Presbyterian Manor's food service provider, will host The Teaching Kitchen at 2 p.m. March 2. Explore food, culinary techniques and nutrition.

The hands-on experience leads to a deeper appreciation for the ingredients, their origin and the health benefits of different foods and food preparations. Space is very limited. RSVP by February 23 to reserve your spot to Crystal Stock at 316-343-2613 or cstock@pmma.org.

Finally, join us from 3 to 5 p.m. March 16 for a come-and-go open house featuring our Post-Acute to Home (PATH) program, your next step to going home. Meet with Maria Lane, social services director, and Crystal Stock, marketing director, to learn about how the program works and how it benefits seniors who have been hospitalized after an illness or injury.

UPDATE: The March 16 event has been postponed. We'll announce when a new date has been determined.

RSVP by March 13 to Crystal Stock at 316-343-2613 or cstock@pmma.org. Sign up for prizes and giveaways at each event, and enter a drawing for a $50 gift card at the end of the three-part series.
