Kate Rhoads named Artist of the Month

Please join us for a reception with Emporia painter Kate Rhoads, our Artist of the Month, from 2 to 4 p.m. on Friday, July 28.

Kate took two of the top prizes in this year's Art is Ageless competition at Emporia Presbyterian Manor. “Against the Odds” was named Best of Show in the professional division, and her “Kansas Homestead” received Judge's Choice honors.

Kate, a retired nurse, has an art studio in rural Lyon County. She works with acrylics and favors an impressionistic style for her subjects, which include landscapes, portraits and objects. Kate is a member of the Flint Hills Artist Guild.
