Emporia PMMA resident, employees test positive for COVID-19

A health care resident, four essential health care employees and one non-direct care employee at Emporia Presbyterian Manor have tested positive for COVID-19. The employees last worked on dates ranging from January 17 to 20, screening in prior to their shifts and wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) while at work.

We have notified the Flint Hills Community Health Department and will follow their guidance. Visitation continues with infection control precautions and social distancing requirements per new Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) requirements.

The resident will isolate until they meet the PMMA Emergent Infectious Disease (EID) policy, CDC and KDHE guidelines for ending isolation.

We will follow the PMMA Emergent Infectious Disease (EID) policy, CDC and KDHE guidelines for when the employees may return to work.

PMMA strongly encourages family members, employees and residents to carefully consider getting a COVID-19 vaccination for themselves, as well as their loved ones. Every person who receives the vaccine will strengthen the protection for all residents, staff and the community at-large.

All employees are encouraged to follow CDC guidelines and best practices as these are continually updated. The community regularly reinforces with all staff that an employee should not report to work if he or she is experiencing symptoms of a respiratory illness or not feeling well.
