Each and every day, our maintenance team works tirelessly to keep everything running smoothly in our building and around the grounds. Get to know two members of the team: Eric Friend and David Schmitendorf.
Eric Friend, maintenance tech
Eric (pictured above, left, taking a breather) is the newest and youngest member of our maintenance team. He joined the staff on October 17, 2017.
Eric’s job responsibilities include working on remodels and fixing up the building where needed.
“I like the hands-on work and enjoy the variety we have around here. There’s a lot of things to do. You’re not stuck doing one thing the whole day,” said Eric.
He also enjoys who his work benefits. “The residents are nice. I like how everyone creates a friendly environment.”
In his free time, Eric likes to fish. “I’m decent, it just depends on what type of fish I’m fishing for.”
David Schmitendorf, maintenance tech
David (pictured above, right) has been a part of the maintenance team for the longest period of time. His first day was January 18, 2013.
While David helps with remodels and fixing up the building along with Eric, he also does most of the plumbing and has a hand in the electrical work.
“I enjoy staying busy,” said David.
He also enjoys several perks that come with the job.
“It’s an easy place to work, I’m inside and outside, and the residents are nice,” said David.
David finds ways to stay busy at home, too. He likes working in his yard and keeping it fixed up. “I also do a little fishing here and there.”
David and his wife Paula will celebrate their 33rd wedding anniversary in July. They have two sons, a daughter-in-law and their first grandchild is on the way.
