Two employees at Emporia Presbyterian Manor will receive assistance to continue their education through Presbyterian Manors of Mid-America’s Employee Education Assistance program.
Amanda Aniles is already taking classes for her LPN certification and is set to graduate at the end of this year. She has been a CNA since 2010 and works in our Health Services Department.
Amanda’s experience has made her a real leader on our health services team, and she was named our Employee of the Year for 2016. At that time her supervisors noted, “Day after day, Amanda comes to work with a smile on her face and does a tremendous job in caring for our residents, being a valuable team member, and being a leader in our community.”
Human Resources Director Caitie Stineman is taking the exam to become a Society of Human Resource Management Certified Professional (SHRM-CP). Caitie said she has been interested in earning this certification ever since she starting working in human resources in Sterling, Kan., where she attended college. The certification will help with her day-to-day tasks, developing management skills, and deepening her knowledge of employment laws that affect our staff.
Since Caitie joined our team as HR director in 2016, she is often the one telling other employees about the education assistance program. “It is a fantastic benefit that I am proud my organization offers. It is encouraging to other staff as well because it shows that our organization values them.”
Caitie said she’s looking forward to learning more about tools and practices that will help her serve our entire staff. “The Lord has blessed with me with being able to work here, and I want to do my best with assisting the incredible staff we have here.”
The education assistance program provides scholarships to employees for accredited educational programs leading to a certification, license or degree.
Applications are accepted and reviewed every spring. To be eligible, employees must have been employed at PMMA for at least one year at the time the award is made (usually mid-summer). Funds are paid after the successful completion (a “C” grade or higher) of the approved course and can be used to cover tuition, fees and books.
